Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is used to see internal structures and function in the human body and all of its organs. MRI images are regularly used in our Los Angeles cancer treatment facility as they show greater detail among soft tissues than computed tomography (CT) scans and has many advanced applications in musculoskeletal, neurological and oncological (cancer) imaging.

The GE 1.5T MRI at the Beverly Hills Cancer Center is one of the most technologically advanced magnetic resonance imaging machines available and provides high-resolution digital imaging of any body part, including shoulders, knees, brain and spine.

An MRI Tells Your Physician Just How Your Body Is Responding To Treatment

At Beverly Hills Cancer Center, the physicians can use MRI to detect, diagnose and image the most complex structures (e.g. the human brain) as well as tumors and cancers throughout the body. MRI imaging is also a useful tool in assessing and determining how a particular patient may be responding to treatments.

For example, a patient may be found to have a tumor in the brain, spine, liver, etc. After radiation and/or chemotherapy treatments are given for treatment of a tumor, MRI imaging can be used to determine if the tumor has responded to the treatment and if it has reduced in size or disappeared. After treatment has been completed, MRI imaging is often utilized for surveillance to ensure that the tumor does not return or increase in size. MRI imaging can be a vital tool in the management and follow up of an oncology patient.
